The Healthy Lifestyle Monitor (HLM) is a self-monitoring product specifically designed to help change unhealthy lifestyle habits, manage stress and achieve greater life balance.
Common health and fitness apps and wearables provide information and advice about nutrition, exercise, sleep and relaxation. The Healthy Lifestyle Monitor, on the other hand, allows you to obtain a complete picture of your lifestyle habits and the influence of stress factors and then monitor your efforts to change them and adjust them where necessary.
The app offers the opportunity to fully tailor a change approach to your wishes.
The HLM can be used with and without heart rate monitor.
You will probably already know from experience that it is not so easy to change unhealthy lifestyle habits, despite their negative effect on your vitality and stress levels. The same goes for changing the conditions in your social and work environment and your thinking habits.
You will have to be truly motivated for any change you want to make if you are to have any chance of success. Looking closely at yourself during the period you are trying to change will help you persevere until you reach your goal.
Several scientific studies, including those by renowned American executive coach Marshall Goldsmith, have shown that self-monitoring contributes significantly to successful behavior change because of its motivational influence.
1. Records of your daily stress levels, lifestyle habits and your perceived social and work pressures.
2. Making visible the patterns of your lifestyle habits, your stress levels, of your stress factors and their interrelationships. They are important inputs to your choice of which lifestyle habit(s) and/or stressor(s) to address first.
3. Assess whether your approach to your selected lifestyle habits and/or stressor(s) actually leads to increased relaxation and vitality.
4. Keeping your motivation up during the change.
1. Every day you answer the questions about your living habits, your stress level and the influence you of stressfactors you experience.
2. Weekly review the results of your approach.
3. Until you reach the maximum result for you, continue to change your living habits and/or your stress factors.
Functions
The Dashboard shows trend graphs based on Morning readings and Self Reflections. These trend graphs can provide important information at the individual level, as well as in terms of their interrelationship.
The Morning reading is performed, preferably daily, shortly after getting up and before breakfast. At that time, daily stimuli have barely affected your autonomic nervous system. The Morning reading consists of two parts:
Living habits and stress factors are major influencers of how you feel. You can set up a completely custom set of questions that are important for to monitor.
The Self Reflection feature is designed to show you during the change process, whether you:
1. still finds a particular change important.
2. continues to believe in the success rate of this change.
3. are satisfied with the results achieved.
Only relevant if you have a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. Realtime reading allows you to see the immediate effect on your stress level while applying a particular relaxation technique, such as deep and calm breathing, thinking positive thoughts or listening to (relaxing) music.
You can save the results and add your own description. You can make the Realtime reading last as long as you want.
Only relevant if you have a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. You can perform an Experimental readings after specific conditions or after certain activities. So you can assess the impact of, say, a business meeting or after a relaxing massage, for example. You can also save these results and add your own description.
There are users who would like external support to change certain lifestyle habits or the influence of certain stress factors. The HLM offers the possibility to share your measurement data with one or more health professionals, (sports) trainers or coaches. If these professionals own the HLM Pro (S, M or L) trainers, data can be exchanged very easily.
