Our Approach

Behaviour cannot be separated from identity

The Columbus Catalyst Code is a practical approach to sustainable behaviour change. Not a theory to study, but a method to apply.

Why do behaviour changes fail?

Not due to lack of motivation or willpower, but because behaviour is addressed without considering who someone is.

If you see yourself as "not athletic", every attempt to exercise feels like a battle against yourself. You can persist temporarily with discipline, but as soon as pressure drops, you fall back. The Columbus Catalyst Code therefore begins not with behaviour, but with awareness — learning to listen to your Inner Compass.

Change from within. Behaviour that fits who you are doesn't need to be forced. It follows naturally when you learn to read your Inner Compass.

Three core principles

Identity as compass

Behaviour follows from who we think we are. Change begins with awareness of your self-image.

Awareness over willpower

Insight into your patterns is more powerful than discipline alone. Observing comes before forcing.

Independence as goal

Our tools are scaffolding, not a permanent building. The goal is that you can navigate yourself.

The Inner Compass

How do you navigate through life when everything is in motion? The CCC introduces the Inner Compass — four sources that together form your intuition.

Body

Physical signals: energy, tension, fatigue

Emotions

Feelings and moods that point direction

Thoughts

Mental patterns and beliefs

Conscience

Values and integrity — who do you want to be?

Intuition — the synthesis

What do you know when you listen to all four? That is your Inner Compass — the needle that points your direction.

Scaffolding, not a permanent building

The HLM app helps you learn to read your Inner Compass. The goal is that you can eventually navigate yourself — without app, without coach, without dependency.

Four steps to navigating independently

1

Measure

Observe where you stand. Question your Inner Compass.

2

Choose focus

Choose one focus point. Not everything at once.

3

Adjust

Experiment. What works? What doesn't?

4

Navigate

Until you can determine your course independently.

⚠️ Change is not linear

When you try something new, it often gets harder before it gets easier. Old habits pull, new intentions waver. That feels like failure, but it's normal — it's part of the process.

The art is persisting without forcing. Not pushing yourself, but continuing to observe.

Scientific foundation

The CCC builds on solid research into identity, behaviour and the nervous system.

Daphna Oyserman Showed that people act in line with what they believe themselves to be
James Clear Made identity-based behaviour change accessible with "Atomic Habits"
Stephen Porges Polyvagal theory: the nervous system needs safety first
António Damásio Emotions spelen een fundamentele rol bij beslissingen
"Sometimes you have to think you're sailing to India to discover America. The Columbus Catalyst Code is about daring to get lost to discover you were always home."
